Accessible Parking Permit Program

Accessible Parking Permits allow those with mobility disabilities to park in designated parking spaces. 

About 

Accessible Parking Permits allow individuals who have mobility disabilities to park in designated parking spaces. Any BC medical practitioner can fill out the application form and they designate whether the disability is temporary or permanent.

Types of Permits.

Permanent Disability Permit

Issued when your medical practitioner believes the condition is permanent. Valid for 3 years.

Temporary Disability Permit

Issued when your medical practitioner believes the condition is likely to improve. Valid for 1 year.

Visitor Permit

Available for visitors with mobility disabilities who are temporarily in the area.

Eligibility Who Qualifies?

The Information and Resource Referral Program is available to:

  • Individuals with permanent mobility disabilities
  • Individuals with temporary mobility disabilities (recovering from surgery, injury, etc.)
  • Businesses and organizations that provide accessible services

Application Process

Getting a Parking Permit

Application forms for Parking Permits are available at NDRC, doctor’s offices and clinics. They are also available on this page.

Your medical practitioner will indicate on the form whether you have a permanent or temporary disability. If they believe the condition is likely to improve they will issue a Temporary Disability Permit for one year. If they believe the condition is permanent they will issue a Permanent Disability Parking Permit which is valid for 3 years.
Once you have completed this step you may choose to

  • Bring the completed application together with the fee to NDRC or have someone bring them in for you. The permit will be issued with 15 minutes
  • Mail the completed application and payment information to NDRC. We will process it mail it out within two business days.

Permit Renewal Process

Renewing Your Parking Permit

All permits expire on the last day of the given month. This is punched and written on your card at the time. NDRC will mail or email you a renewal notice at the beginning of the month your permit expires in.

Permanent Disability Permits

  • Please sign the renewal letter and return it to us with the renewal fee.

Important: Doctors authorisation not required for renewal.

Temporary Parking Permits

  • If you require the use of a parking permit beyond the expiry date, you must take the renewal letter to your medical professional for a new authorization.
  • Return the completed renewal letter with the fee to NDRC.

Permits for Businesses

All permits for businesses are for one year. There is no maximum on the number of permits your business can purchase.

Non-Profits

$35 (walk-in) / $39 (mail-out)

Needed for Application :

  • Copy of Business License
  • Charitable Registration Number
  • Brief description of what your business does what makes it clear why you need accessible spots.
  • Your name and position
  • Names and positions of anyone else who may buy buy under your organization’s name ( employees, subcontractors, etc )

For Profits

$50/permit

Needed for Application :

  • Copy of Business License
  • Brief description of what your business does what makes it clear why you need accessible spots.
  • Your name and position
  • Names and positions of anyone else who may buy buy under your organization’s name ( employees, subcontractors, etc )
